Humans and dogs have always had a close bond with each other.
Perhaps that is why they often refer to dogs as man’s best friend, but we don’t need a title to know that we love our furry buddies.
Perhaps that is why so many people were captivated by the story of Joy, the pitbull mix. If you haven’t heard about what she did, then you will have your heart warmed as you read it.
Joy was adopted from an animal shelter by a Minnesota family about two years ago. It wasn’t long before he was part of the family and enjoying all of the benefits and privileges of living in a loving household.
One of the things that Joy enjoyed more than anything else was sleeping in bed with the children. It was perfect because the children loved having Joy around.
One day, the 10-year-old son in the family, Jonas, said he was going to take a bath before he came downstairs. It was then that they witnessed something that was so remarkable and they will never forget it.
Unbelievably, Jonas, despite being 10 years old passed out in the bathtub because he had a heart attack. Joy was downstairs enjoying time with the family but started barking immediately after hearing strange noises.
When the mother went upstairs, Joy was already in the bathtub trying to pull Jonas out of it. He was yanking on Jonas by the hands and hair, as she sensed said something was wrong and forced the door open to the bathroom to help.
911 was called immediately and the ambulance was able to revive Jonas and save his life. It was the heroic action and thinking on the part of the pitbull mix that really drew the family’s gratitude. They knew that things would have been a lot worse if she hadn’t been around.
This is just a reminder to keep your dogs a little closer to you and to enjoy the bond that you undoubtedly have formed with them.
